I wouldn't have finished this book, let alone enjoyed it if I hadn't spent several years living in the heart of the Canadian prairies. The depression, the drought and the poverty weren't anything to laugh at, yet these tales of a now-disappeared frontier are very amusing. There is a human touch and caring to these stories and it is well worth the time to read the yarns.
