An interesting little hardcover book consisting of short stories by Wilhelm Hauff, E. T. W. Hoffman, Frederick Schiller, Sir Walter Scott, Ludwig Tieck, Goethe and an uncredited story 'The Bracelet'.
Whilst I wasn't particular taken with the inclusions by Hoffman & Schiller, the other short stories were all quite entertaining snippets of 1800s literature. Mostly of a paranormal nature they feature odd and as the title would indicate, 'weird' circumstances, some of which are novel, some of show more which are predictable and some of which have neat twists at the ending of the story.
It's part of a set of at least 5 that I'm aware of being German, American, English, Irish, Scottish all published by William Paterson, London & Edinburgh in the closing of the 1800s. show less
