A good home reference for all dog owners. Information is easy to find and may help ease your mind a bit until you can get your dog to the vet.

A great reference for cat owners, especially on first aid. As typical of books like this, the information about cat food and nutrition is wrong and uninformed.

This is one of the first books I turn to when I have a non-emergency medical situation with one of the horses and want to do some slightly more in-depth reading. Doctors James Giffin and Tom Gore address such basic health-care and management issues as the latest medicines and immunizations, wounds, illnesses, parasites, nutrition and supplements, and reproduction. Just inside the covers, the horse owner can easily access the index of Signs and Symptoms, since responding quickly to an emergency can literally mean the life or death of a horse. Anyone who looks after a horse—whether owner, trainer or groom—can rely on this authoritative book to get them through emergencies and well as routine events.… (more)
