This book presents procedures and guidelines for chemical analysis and tests of grapes, grape juice and wine. The results of any analysis or test should be considered as a tool to aid decision making throughout the process. The information in this book should be applied along with a sound understanding of winemaking principles and practices.
A comprehensive guide to wine making and tasting for the person who wants to know more about the Australian wines that they are drinking or wish to buy. Provides an understanding of the steps in wine making, what imparts the colour, nose and palate, I purchased it as part of a six-week course in wines. It is slightly dated being first published in 2002; for example, it still devotes some space to corks, not accounting for the fact that in 2008 many wines now come with a screw cap.
