Once Upon a Summer Night (Bourbon Falls Book 3)by Kyra Jacobs
Story starts out with Hannah and she's been raising her friend Beth's son since birth. The two women had left where they grew up after Beth found out she was pregnant. Now that Hannah is on her way back home to where all her family live she is concerned about the custody of Noah as the other family want him. She ends up taking over her father's job at the fire house, on the computer, organizing everything. He's laid up at home on crutches. She also runs into her life long friend Chase who has not forgotten her.
She has no idea why he didn't show up for her graduation..... Chase is now a fire fighter under her father and they get along ok.
Lots of secrets, mysteries and will Hannah be able to fit into the family life and keep Noah and maybe even Chase. Adult situations. Great read, wish I had read all the prior books in order but I didn’t feel like I missed anything-just back story of others.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Once Upon a Christmas Beauty by Kyra Jacobs
This story starts out with Mia and her family. She's a schoolteacher and has a teen daughter, divorced now and spends time with others in the family to organize the holiday drive where women knit infant items by donations made to the bookshop they ru.
Story also follow Alex who's back in town, a published author now and wants to apologize to Mia for the way he left their relationship in college.
She forgives him but then things get really crazy. A lot of events occur and she takes him in on a holiday weekend as nothing else is open, no car rental etc. They get to know one another again, but he's not giving her the whole truth. After the booksigning at their shop he heads to a competitors shop and that's when she catches him on the tv being interviewed.
He approaches her and she is so tied of the lies...
Mia talks to others and knows he was the one for her but how can she live with his lies.
She views his facebook page and notices the obit for his friend Tom and she takes action.
Love how it all ends and how there is so much hope.
Wonderful story, can't wait to read more from this author.

After seeing the rave reviews, I really really wanted to like this but unfortunately it failed to meet my expectations. Kyra Jacobs “The Soccer Player and the Single Mom” lead characters Felicity and Scott were boring and they lacked chemistry. They held nothing in common yet here they are falling madly in love with other and having their happily ever after. I was so bored halfway through that I decided to drop it like it's hot. Sadly this series wasn't for me.

Sometimes the path we see for ourselves may not be the road we are meant to take. Kyra Jacobs' Her Unexpected Detour is a charming story about opening up to new possibilities. Loved the characters and story. Kayla and Brent each had things in their life needing to be worked through. Kayla was dealing with work issues and loss. Brent was still affected by past heartbreak. Life happens whether good or bad, but it's how the experience is handled that makes us who we are. Her Unexpected Detour by Kyra Jacobs is simply sweet. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review: Her Unexpected Engagement (Checkerberry Inn) by Kyra Jacobs

I love stories that have a small town vibe to them. The sense of family, the beautiful surroundings all appeal to me because I live in more of the big city where things are more fast paced. Kyra Jacobs caught my attention even more with the setting Michigan. I have lived in Michigan all of my life, so it was nice to see it get a shout out. Her Unexpected Engagement is the story of a woman taking back her life after an epic betrayal. Betrayed by her husband, hounded by the media and needed a fresh start, Stephanie heads home for a breather and ends up finding her destiny. Small town living, close knit family and the chance to see my state through new eyes. How could I not enjoy this novel.

Ms. Jacobs lightens the mood and lifts up the heart with a simple tale of love and laughter. Sometimes less is more and Checkerberry is as small town as they come. It's nice to visit a place where the love is abundant, the gossip is flowing and the romance is sweet. Her Unexpected Hero proved to be a very special treat.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) This was a cute story, and you kind of already know how the story is going to go when you start read. Jenna's friends comes to town for a funeral of one of their friends and expect to meet her boyfriend something she doesn't have, so she gets her best friend Zach to help her with her lie, he has no problem with it because he has always had a crush on her. But does the lie become real?

It's a quick read. I had some issue, but they got answered closer to the end of the book. I liked the alternate world and dragons, of course, always dragons. It was ok.

Advisory. . . Reading book one is essential to the total enjoyment of book two. Book one give up some secrets, previous deceptions, connections, current battles, and more. I did not read book one and I was lost and confused and felt a bit cheated that I did not read the first book of this series. My fault. I was not aware that this was a continuation of the first book of the series. I was able to muddle my way through and find love for both Addie and Zayne. I enjoyed Tristan both sides of him. Rosalind did not find a good place in me during my read. The parents needed to have their reign removed to be so irresponsible and to have that kind of power was just . . . I guess the signs of the time.

I found the book with a more up-tempo pace. The suspense engaging. The why was evident, power. Or was it really? There was a vivid world of shifters, dragons, magic, royals, power, deceit, lies, family rivalry, family drama, What more can be added to make the next one just as, if not more captivating, alluring, enthralling?

After the ending of DRAGONS AMONG THEM I was left wondering what would happen between Addie and Zayne, so it was a no-brainer when I had the chance to snag a review copy of DRAGONS AGAINST THEM.

I'm not usually a fan of multiple POVs in my books, but Jacobs did a good job of making me feel like I was getting the full story even when I was in another person's head. Addie and Zayne were just as interesting to me in book two as I found them in book one, but DRAGONS AGAINST THEM covered a lot more than there budding relationship. We were introduced to a whole new aspect of the overall storyline and new characters jumped into the mix. I can't say that I loved everything about book two, but I liked it enough that I was easily able to stay in the story and I actually ended up liking a character that I hated in DRAGONS AMONG THEM.

I'm very interested in seeing where things will go next after the ending of DRAGONS AGAINST THEM, and not just for Adelaide and Zayne. There are still a lot of possible ways that the series can go with book three. I have a lot of questions and really want to dive deeper into some of the things that were prophesied in DRAGONS AGAINST THEM.

I normally read YA or Paranormal books, but was given the opportunity to read and review this book, and I am so grateful for that! “Armed with Steele” went above and beyond my expectations, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

Jessica and Grace have been best friends since College, when they met at a local coffee shop. They are now roommates, and Grace just landed herself a new position at Maxwell Office Solutions, while Jessica does Web Design from home. Grace is fortunate enough to be in a wonderful relationship, and has been trying to set Jessica up with someone for a while. One day in particular Jessica avoids Grace’s phone call because she didn’t want to be reminded of the double date they have after work, and wishes she could somehow get out of it. And then she gets a call from Matt, Grace’s boyfriend- there’s been a bad accident. Grace slips into a coma and Jessica beats herself up for not answering that call- perhaps Grace would not have drove off the road and end up in the hospital.

Of course, in a hurry to get to the hospital, hoping she makes it in time to see her best friend, her roommate, Jessica gets pulled over. The officer doesn’t buy her excuse that her friend is in the hospital, in critical condition, and she needs to get there, right now. After a traffic stop that seems to take longer than it should, she is sent on her way. Matt fills her in on what he knows, which isn’t much, and she is left with even more questions than before. Nothing about this makes sense, but who is going to believe her that she smells foul play?

Coincidently, the officer that was at the scene of the accident stops by the hospital, hoping to get some answers himself, and Jessica gets her chance to question him herself. Never did she think it would be the same officer that just pulled her over, the one with the striking blue eyes, Officer Steele.

Jessica even drives by the scene of the accident, not intentionally, and decides to step out of her vehicle. There she finds something that disturbs her, and is certain this was no “accident”, and the clue left behind points to someone from Maxwell. Matt doesn’t want to believe that someone was trying to kill Grace, so she is left with no other option but to rely on the ever-so handsome officer. Unfortunately, the case is closed, and Nate Steele offers her another route- go undercover. Of course, Nate has some secrets of his own, and his own reasons for wanting to find out who is behind this all.

Is Jessica strong enough to go undercover to find out who is behind all of this? And will she make it out alive, or suffer the same fate as Grace? And will Grace ever come out of her coma, and possibly provide some unanswered questions. And can Nate and Jessica continue to fight the attraction to each other, or are they brave enough to find out what can become of them?

If you are interested in mystery and crime stories, with just a bit of romance mixed in for good measure, then you will not be disappointed by “Armed with Steele”.

When I saw that one of my favorite authors Juliette Cross gave DRAGONS AMONG THEM 5 stars, I knew I had to read it.

It was easy to connect emotionally with Adelaide. The world she finds herself in is definitely hard for her to believe, but she makes it work for her while also trying to find a way home. I liked how Adelaide was able to connect with the secondary characters in DRAGONS AMONG THEM and win them over even though they weren't very fond of her in the start. There is just something about her that you can't help but like and want to get to know. Zayne is extremely loyal and very protective. It's not hard to imagine why Adelaide would fall for him.

The romance between Adelaide and Zayne had a lot of ups and downs, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. They are highly attracted and drawn to each other, but Adelaide expects to go back home to her world and Zayne has an obligation to his family and kingdom to marry another. They don't stay away from each other long, but there are a lot of up and down feelings on both sides.

DRAGONS AMONG THEM started off the Kingdoms of Fire and Ice series well. I'm hoping that future books will continue to follow Zayne and Adelaide, but either way I look forward to reading more.

Really LOVED this story! I thought the characters were great (adored Ruby!), and they worked perfectly together!! Hopefully we will be getting Miles' story soon! OK enough exclamations. I really did enjoy this book though and can't wait to read more.

Brent Masterson has had his heart shattered in the past so there is no way he is going to lay it out there again. That's why staying away from Kayla is priority number one. The attraction is too strong so best just to ignore it!

Kayla Daniels has worked hard her whole life. When she is wrongly accused at work and given a suspension, she takes a spur of the moment trip to Mt. Pleasant to see her brother. It was suppose to be a quick trip but rain and an accident having her hanging around a bit longer. She can't allow Brent to distract her though. Getting back to work is all she should be thinking about. Too bad it's not!

Awesome read that I highly recommend.

I’d love to hang out with Liz. She’s a great character. She has a can do attitude, a great relationship with her mother, very supportive friends who she loves like siblings and while having a boyfriend and thinking eventually of children would be great it’s not something she obsesses over. She dreams of the opportunities the bigger city may offer and when she’s there she doesn’t flounder. Fort Wayne is a challenge this chipper go-getter can handle. Liz does have faults. Making half-caff coffee? What’s the point? She allows herself to be a bit run over in the interest of advancement and what she really wants for her life. This is not the woman who feels the world is out to get her. She’s making lemonade but with store-bought lemons and not the one life hands her. One of her new clients is Torrunn, a co-worker’s boyfriend and local smoking hot firefighter. A client and taken mean way off of the list of possibilities. Maybe he has some hot firefighter friends?

“Flirting with Fire” is a great novel for kick-back time on the weekend. It’s fun, flirty and riddled with really nice people. We get the story through the eyes of Liz and she generally is seeing the best is people so while Bunni is a bit of a jerk, Liz tries to understand her disappointment in losing out on a job to Liz and not wanting anyone working on her boyfriend but herself. While Torrunn is a bit of a douchebag but he does good for the community and while there’s an indication that he doesn’t treat his girlfriends in a serious nature, he’s generally a good guy and the platonic byplay may be flirt but its friendly without artifice.

“Flirting with Fire” is an easy, fun and sweet read about people that the reader really wants to win.

Cozy characters have to be imbued with a special confidence that says everyone is getting it wrong and I need to look closer. The character forgets the danger and dives in feet first with a strong sense of justice outweighing every dangerous consequence that may occur. Jessica has a very personal connection to the event. The victim is someone as dear to her as family. When Jessica hears that her friend’s beloved designer purse is open and spilled everywhere she doesn’t buy that perhaps it fell as a result of the accident. Jessica smells a rat and knows the only way she can keep her friend safe is to make sure anyone and everyone responsible for the attempt on her life is locked up.

Jessica is a great cozy character. She is over the top in the way women often aren’t but in a way that leads a reader to nod knowingly and say, “If anyone is going to do that, it’s this character.” There is a solid confidence built in Jessica that she is not just a pretty face despite her first meeting with Officer Steele might tell us and she will get to the bottom of this case and get the job done. Her confidence is reassuring and slightly dangerous as she may get it done but that’s not to say there may be some loss on the way.

If you expect all sex and no story from “Armed with Steele,” you’ll be disappointed. Jacobs’ novel suffers a bit from a belabored start but once it gets going the story is compelling and well crafted. Once working undercover at Grace’s (the friend nearly killed) workplace, Jessica just happens to have the right skills and just happens to fit the bill and just happens to be hired. Someone I worked with many years ago said “Everyone hates the new person.” In real life this is true but in cozy stories especially the new person always finds someone with wide eyed trust and verbal diarrhea who is willing to run down the suspects and call me cheesy but I just love that. Of course, Jessica learns that the mystery is deeper than she ever suspected and rather than candy coating and moving on from the new information, Jacobs develops the story for the reader. What’s a little embezzlement between friends?

If you like cozy mysteries, I highly recommend “Armed with Steele.” If you pick it up, be sure to contact Jacobs to inquire about a follow up novel involving one of the male background characters in this book. You’ll know who he is.

ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR HONEST REVIEW

This was a good fast paced story. There's mystery, some romance, and even some laughter.

Jessica Hartley doesn't believe that the car accident that left her best friend, Grace, in a coma was an accident at all. She believes that someone tried to kill Grace. The clues point to someone who works with Grace at Maxwell Office Solutions. When she tries to tell Matt her suspicions he doesn't want to hear it. Leaving her only one person to turn to. The cop assigned to the case, Nate Steele.

Nate Steele is only to happy to look into things for Jess. That is until the case gets closed. Leaving them only one option at this point to find out the answers and that is for Jess to go undercover. She can apply for Grace's old job and see what she can figure out from the inside. Nate has his own reasons for helping Jessica out. He's been watching Maxwell Office Solutions for awhile and this could finally be the chance he needs to bring them down.

Will Jessica find out who the culprit is before they catch on to her? Will Grace come out of her coma and be able to give them some of the answers they are searching for. Will Jessica and Nate's attraction to one another interfere in their investigation. To find out the answers to these questions and so much more you will have to buy the book. You won't be disappointed. I do wish that the author would have shown more of the chemistry between Jessica and Nate. Other than that this is a good book that I will recommend to my friends.
