You wouldn't think that a daddy book and a MC book could get together and create something awesome, but then again, you probably aren't Kara Kelley, who knew that it would work. Although, I think that I might call this MC-lite. There are MCs involved, but they aren't the main thrust of the story, the Daddy bit is.

When Drew was 12, his dad, Trigger, the Prez of a 1%er MC, took him to act as lookout when they were going out to teach someone a lesson. Drew saw someone coming and hollered. His dad killed the man Drew saw, right in front of the man's child. Drew ran over to try to save the man and hid the kid. But he paid for it. He ended up spending time in a juvenile facility and then probation at a camp for troubled boys.

Addianna's beloved Uncle Ray ran that camp. She was there the same summer that Drew was, and fell madly in love with him. But when Drew left, he left ruins and a broken heart behind him. Now that Ray is dead, she's back to deal with everything, and she finds out that Drew has been living at the camp.

I like how Drew and Addi went back and forth between flashbacks and the current events. It was a nice way to show us that history without having to read all of everything that happened when they were teenagers. We just got to see the parts that were important to the story. I like that Addi responded to Drew the way that she did. It wasn't someone trying to figure out what they wanted, but someone who knew what she wanted and needed.

Kara Kelley sure knows how to write a book that will draw you in and keep you interested. I never wanted to put the book down. I wouldn't mind seeing a little glimpse of them in the future to see how everything is going for them.
