Gr 2–6—Committee member: "This has everything I dream of: the pairing of an artistic rendering of a birth of a star
with the birth of a scientific mind." Roy's visuals perfectly capture the parallel stories, star and scientist, with the two
texts interlocking into a seamless, dazzling whole.

A gorgeously illustrated biography of astronomer Cecelia Payne and where her curiosity led her.

Two stories are told in tandem, with two different illustration styles: the birth of a star, and the life of Cecilia, who grows up to be a scientist who discovers what stars are made of.

Absolutely stellar.

Back matter: Cecilia Payne: Science Superstar (biography), "A Star is Born" with illustrations, poetic description, and scientific explanation, timeline (born 1900 - died 1979), bibliography. Appropriately starry endpapers.

A True Wonder: The Comic Book Hero Who Changed Everything is a picture book biography about Wonder Woman and how her comics came to be, with an especial focus on the women who made her possible. It was written by Kirsten W. Larsen and illustrated by Katy Wu. I loved this book and learned a lot from it. A must-have for fans of Wonder Woman and comics! GIRL POWER!

Trigger warnings (that I remember): sexism towards real women and Wonder Woman, sexualization of Wonder Woman's outfit (wanting her to be more/less covered up)… (more)
