Mysteriously Creepy!

Small Backstory:

Twin sisters want to control things in their life so they get mixed up in magic and voodoo. Consequences are drastic and everything goes awry.

Thoughts:

Read the last 1/2 of the book till early hours of the morning as it started to escalate and I couldn't put it down! I also have found a new horror author to add to my list! Giving this book four Voodoo Hoodoo stars!

I knew from the opening line, that if nothing else, this was going to be an interesting read. By the end of the first chapter, I knew I was hooked. After that I was down a rabbit hole of ghosts, small town scandals, and a quirky group of ghost hunters. LeBlanc’s style had an easy flow to it, and I felt like I was watching a movie unfold before me. If you enjoy Odd Thomas or The Ghost Whisperer, you are going to fall in love with this book. I hope to see more of Noni and crew in future books!

This is not a genre I'd normally read.
My favorite character was Tawana. There are lots of twists and it is gross in parts.

Matt Daigle buys a house and turns it into a cafe where the locals flock to eat home-cooked meals. He and his young son, Seth, live on the second floor of the cafe.

Laura and Tawana purchase a house, two houses down from the cafe, and turn it into a beauty shop. They both live on the second floor, along with Tawana's special-needs cousin, Angelica.

Strange events start to occur. And Matt, Laura and Tawana discover that the two houses have a history together, a horrible, frightenly violent history. They will have to fight for their very lives and depend on Angelica to draw their future.

There were parts of this book that had me laughing out loud and other parts that shocked me. It's not "scary" but it there are some graphic parts.

I thought this combination of holiday and paranormal would be right up my alley but I couldn't connect with this book.
