This book was really hard for me to get into since it crossed so many genre lines. It started out and carried the erotica and BDSM lines, but also had crime, suspense, and a few others mixed in. It made it hard to get lost in the story like I wanted to. I felt like the BDSM was more abuse than BDSM because it showed her as very weak, and showed her having no self respect to the point where she couldn't get out. Honestly, it was not a book I would read again.

Asking for Trouble is an erotic novel by Kristina Lloyd.

Plot:
Beth has her life very well under control. Especially the men around her – her lover, her best friend and sometimes lover. When mysterious Ilya moves into the house opposite hers, this control starts to slip. Ilya wants to know her deepest and darkest fantasies, and not only that, he wants to make them come true. But Beth isn’t sure if that’s such a good idea, since they’re pretty dark and sleazy. Yet she somehow can’t seem to resist Ilya.

Asking for Trouble was what an erotic novel should be like. Not only was it steaming hot, but it also had an interesting story line and great characters. And it was well written. Even if you don’t kink for the kind of sex presented in the novel, it’s definitely worth a read.

The quality of writing is fairly high, and I found a lot to appreciate in this book (particularly the resolution of the relationship plot arc). However, despite the extremely careful treatment, readers who (like me) do not fantasize about rape and degradation will find this a very uncomfortable, possibly upsetting read.
