A workmanlike, fluent, extremely boring book. It has useful details - like the Nazi-supporting geologist who found the West Wits line with a magnetometer - but all the cricketers, rugby blues and discrimination against Cambridge men make for a book that the troglodytic Oxonian directors probably loved. No doubt the piper was paid.
