This special offering from the University of Chicago Press was created out of COVID-19 and intended to help readers appreciate European art. Unfortunately I found the drawings of European statues somewhat boring. The text did not elevate it. I'd prefer to look at photographs of the statues. I'd rather see a variety of landscapes to help me feel I've been on a virtual vacation than just statues. Download it if it continues to be free, but it's not something for which I would pay.

This fact-filled story follows Rosie's the Tarantula as she explores the Chicago Field Museum. I must tell you I adore this book which assists children in having a deeper appreciation of nature. The rhyme is well versed and the illustrations throughout the adventure show processes and clarify concepts. I highly recommend this book. It is a treasure.

I was so impressed with her work that I have been imitating it for years now ever sense I found this book. It uses many layers to create a festival of colors, one peaking through another, sometimes in slight ways sometimes full on, sometimes via glazing. It is a celebration of animals also. The book mentions that you have a completely different experience of an animal painting when the eye of the creature is looking at you. I am wearing the book out from years of re-looking.
