This has been revised and expanded for 2016 and is now titled "The Charismatic Illusion." The first section introduces the illusion of the charismatic gifts and the second section answers common questions about them.

The chapters are short and easy to read and understand. The book is just 100 pages. Everything the author says is based on Scripture which is used throughout.

I highly recommend this revised version to those who are confused or wondering if the wide practice of these 'spiritual gifts' is really from God.

Peter Masters is one of my favourite authors. He explains sometimes relatively complicated theological principles in a simple way for average readers. This is one of my favourite books by Masters and I have read it several times. It provides help in times of struggle and assurance for the future. Masters always points us back to the Bible which of course is exactly the right thing for a Pastor to be doing. Highly recommended reading especially for those struggling with faith and life.

This author doesn't care about consent. Stupid, dangerous, entitled BS.

An excellent summary of the tenets of the Christian faith with numerous scriptural references cited for support of the various topics. A few sections are somewhat archaic such as defining the papacy as the anti-christ, but all in all a very good doctrinal statement. It was reading this that began to solidify my reformed understanding of scripture and helped me to realize I could be both Baptist and reformed.
