Harry Hopkins: Ally of the Poor and Defender of Democracy, by George McJimsey (read Nov. 13, 1999) This is a 1987 book and is by a history professor at Iowa State University, who was in town recently and whom I met. Hopkins was born at 512 10th St., Sioux City, Iowa, and had an amazing career, especially during World War II. This is a good book, tho things which once were so controversial are now passe and so some of the zip from those events of the 30s and 40s is gone.
