About the Author

Kyle Mewburn was born in 1963 in Brisbane, Australia. He earned his Bachelor of Business Degree at the Queensland Institute of Technology. He became a full time writer in 1997, writing children's books. He had previously spent time as a journalist, EFL teacher, interviewer and machine operator. His show more titles include: The Hoppleplop, The Bear in the Room, Kiss! Kiss! Yuck! Yuck!, No Room for a Mouse, Duck Stuck! and Little Dog and Scruffy Old Cat. In 2015 his title Dragon Knight: Fire! made the New Zealand Best Seller List. It also made the New Zealand Children's Book Awards 2015 shortlist in the Junior Fiction category. A truly heartwarming book about a girl who loves to count sheep. And of course, she meets the Eleventh sheep! All about Kindness, Relationships, and a true home.

This book is cute, but at the same time I have problems with it. Andy is always hiding from his aunt who always wants a hug and a kiss. Until one day Andy’s aunt doesn’t come over. He realized at the end that he actually loves the Kiss Kiss hug hug. The problems are that now we are teaching kids to be more aware of personal space. Andy should not have to hug and kiss someone just because they are family. It can be seen as forcing intimacy on a child. There are two schools of mind, and I am sure this would make for a great librarian debate, but it is one I would pass on reading to a group of kids at this time.… (more)

A hole and a hill sit side by side, each sharing their experience of the world. The hill can see the beautiful sunset, and the hole can feel the earth breathing. They wish they could see what it is that the other can see, and ask a mole to dig the earth from the hill over to the hole so they can switch perspectives. They are overjoyed by the new experience, but not for long.

This story is so interesting. I would not have imagined such characters as being the subjects of a story. I think it's another great way to describe the "grass is greener on the other side" situation. It's a beautiful way to picture and think about having different perspectives. I did not expect this story to be so profound just by looking at the cover, quite frankly, I expected it to be a book of opposites or something.… (more)
