Didn't finish. A cop named Cezanne Martin has taken leave from the Department to get her law practice going. A female from her past, the estranged wife of a fellow police officer Cezanne had an affair with, is a convicted murderess, has escaped from prison and is out to kill Cezanne who has just become engaged to Sheriff Bobby Noah. I've started this twice but just haven't been able to get into it--I get so far and realize that I'm not really reading it, just running my eyes down the page and I'm off thinking about "what's for dinner?". Seems to start out OK, but then I just can't keep my interest raved-u[. Not sure I like the protagonist (or at least hate her enough to like her, if you know what I mean), Cezanne Martin, with whom I have this no love or hate relationship might be considered a odd and zany character and I-usually enjoy odd and zany characters, but I just can't seem to get into her--she's stupid then she's not; she's going along fine and then does something so "out of character" that it's a bit jolting. She seems to be likable, then she's not; plot looks like it's going somewhere, then it doesn't. Can't seem to pin down who she is and, therefore, it's a bit difficult to care about what she's doing. I'll keep it on my list--perhaps another try sometime.… (more)
