John has written a highly readable, coherent and comprehensive treatment of the current state of economics and the history of its origins going back to Aristotle. His style is engaging and, remarkably, uses humor effectively in the typically dry and dusty world of economics without becoming a lightweight skim. Definitely worth the time to read once without the math and then re-read with the math which he has wisely kept in the notes.
