This Scholastic 'True Book' is a short, non-fiction, chapter book that explores many facets of energy. It gives an overview of potential and kinetic energy, as well as examples of all different kinds of energy, such as thermal, chemical, elastic, and sound energy. The book also explains the law of conservation of energy and how we can make smart renewable energy choices. I think this would be a great jumping off point for further exploration with energy; after reading with students, you could ask them which type of energy they would be interested in exploring more and form expert groups for further research.… (more)
This book is a great introduction to plants, science questioning and experiments, genetics etc. It highlights new science vocabulary words and encourages kids to ask questions.
