A colourful romp

This is a great quick read that's full of gentle humour. It's got the feel of an old-fashioned serial whodunnit - and will keep you entertained as you turn the pages eager for the next end of chapter cliffhanger, twist or reveal. Easy to read and really feels like you're on the cruise with them.

Broom-Hilda: Boo! reprints some of the daily comic strips from 1973 - 1977. I laughed aloud at some of them and grimaced at some, especially the ones where Broom-Hilda is sexually harassing some poor anonymous man. The usual gang -- Irwin the sweet, dim Troll, Gaylord, the smart but not always nice buzzard, and the insult-hurling whatever-it-is that is Grebler are all present. Uncle Harry S. Troll makes one guest appearance, as does Broom-Hilda's mother.

Cat lovers will have to be content with a tiger in one strip.

Dog lovers probably won't like the method Broom-Hilda uses to change a bulldog's face. I didn't. Almost all of the other dogs who appear are either background material or part of a joke about the witch's ugliness.

Pig fans: Herschel, the pig who wears a derby, appears in two of the strips, and a normal hog in another.

Vampire lovers: you might like to know there's a vampire in one of the strips.

Recommended for Broom-Hilda and humor fans, with some reservations.
