Quite comprehensive and unlike most other books of its kind talks about both women and men in depth and even about young people including girls who might start to lose their hair from consistent very tight braids/cornrows. The author is a doctor and a surgeon but he also admits this and tries not to be biased. I think he does a good job of presenting a range of causes and remedies in a clear and unbiased way although there is more info about surgery including before and after pictures. The section on how to choose a physician is actually informative.

The book includes sections on an actually interesting history of treatments; cosmetic, surgical, and drug treatments; treatment scams; causes of hair loss with pictures of both men and women; drugs that can cause hair loss and even a chapter on future treatments.

The chapters were well organized and had decent illustrations although I would have liked more about women's hair weaving and extensions. The text was easy to read as was the index.
