Humorous Walk Down Memory Lane

This is a humorous way to view changes in life since the 1950’s through comic book, music, television shows, and famous people as sort of a timeline of events. The changes are well described through concrete examples in reading and song. Many changes are irritating (electric car windows) and some are good, but they are all funny. It brought back memories while providing a wider lens for life today. Up to date including some current politics! Each chapter cleverly works in a link to a video or song to click and watch or listen.… (more)

I don't rate books I don't finish, but this one was definitely trending toward my lowest rating of 1/2 star. (You can't give something no stars, because someone might think you didn't rate it at all!) The writer seems to have Googled a few facts, but even those aren't put together in a coherent manner. Instead of focusing on the song apparently in question, it just sort of meanders meaninglessly! Avoid!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this book.
I especially enjoyed the links to youtube to hear the songs and other information about the music (live performances, parodies, interviews etc.) It was fun to revisit the time when these songs were hot and fresh.
I am a music collector and DJ and did not find myself bored or seeking more information about the songs from the book. As another reviewer wrote that he found the information somewhat simplistic and lacking; I found it to be just the opposite. Instead of viewing the book as an encyclopedic view of the music, I viewed it as an opportunity to do more research on the songs I wanted to. It was enough just to give me a touchstone remembrance and a beginning point.
There were some things I knew and some things I didn't. I'm really looking forward to the next volume (now numbering 6 in total) for more fun and further trips down musical memory lane.

I don't think the author typed this book. I think he just shook his fist at the screen and grumbled senilely until words appeared.

This is basically the generic, white-label version of everything ever written by Andy Rooney with fewer jokes.
