A grubby tale of one of the island clearing actions of the Pacific War. There is a lot of killing, but the plotting and characterization gradually fade out of the reader's mind. I hope Mr. Peacock found the writing of this book, thereputic. It seems that actual marine veterans like this book a great deal, especially the non-combat remeniscenses.
