Someone who looks like Acker Bilk has a miserable baby with someone who looks like Ruth Madoc. The grandparents look like Captain Pugwash and Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Their pet dog rides a unicycle, plays a banjo and impersonates Audrey Hepburn. In spite of all these diversions, the infant is still epically morose. Another child that might be Lorne Greene challenges the baby to a staring competition at which point he gives in and smiles in order to get the lot of them out of his face. It's a strangely unsatisfying and largely unsettling book.

This is a really cute Pop up/ Picture book that teaches children about their world and the world around them. It has science in it as well as some history and geography. It has some pictures in it that use correctly scaled drawings of the earth and lists all the correct facts about each thing that is in the picture book.

This book would be great to use for young children at the start of a music class. The pictures and the pop-up feature made the book really interesting and could keep children's attention. Aside from the great pictures, the book also does a great job using language children can understand to explain basics about music such as notes and rests.

As usual, this Little Rabbit Book has the most adorable illustrations. However, I particularly like this one because it's written for parents of preschool children and has instructions to the parent about how to use the book to develop number sense through games. At the end of the book, there's a list of more games to play. This would be an excellent book to recommend at events like Kindergarten Round Up.

Summary
In this book you take a trip around the world and see pop-ups of mountains, volcanoes, continents, and countries. It has pop-ups and lift tabs of places and landmarks around the world with great information. It illustrates the geography of Earth and the Solar system.
Personal Reaction:
The way the information is presented makes learning fun. Liked the use of pop-ups and lift tabs to present information. Great colors and illustrations.

Extension Ideas:
1. Have children create a pop-up landmark of their own.
2. Have children create a lift tab picture of Oklahoma with factual information about Oklahoma.½

This book shows how horses have played a part in history and how they live around the world. It goes over the horses races such as the Kentucky Derby, and how famous horses are in the television business. The book tells of the horse family, such as the zebra and camels are considered to be horses. It also tells how one can do ballet, guard, and march in a band.

This is a great book for kids to learn about horses, but I noticed the author did not mention about the Equestrian shows where show horses are trained to jump, trot, etc. It also doesn’t tell of how some people use horses to play polo. I have always been a big horse fanatic, so I love the book anyway. I had gone to a few horse shows before and loved them. I myself am against horse races because I hate seeing the horses get whipped to run faster. I had gone to one in Texas when I was ten and refused to go to another. I, like most kids, would always ask for a horse for my birthday or Christmas. I never did get my horse, but I’m still hoping and wishing. I have ridden horses at different places around the U.S., but because of being an Army Brat, I never got to go a second time. I would always convince my parents I could keep a horse in the back yard, in my room, or in our small shed, but of course the mind of a child never really sees what their parents know. I had moved to the country at one point and met a farmer who told me it is actually good to have a donkey around because they will be the first to notice a coyote is around. I never stop learning about horses and other animals. I had been given this book when I was six along with a horse encyclopedia. I think that this book is also great for older kids and teens.

If I use this in a classroom, I would have the children write stories of how a horse would benefit in today’s America. I may also have a field trip to a ranch to see how farmers use their horses to wrestle cattle or to a rodeo or horse riding place.

A delightfully humorous story for children as well as adults who may have the problem of a nonlaughing baby. Parents and grandparents try to get baby to laugh but nothing works until the young older brother in his cowboy outfit stares the baby down.

This book is extremely engaging. Each page has a different topic that has pop out subtopics. One of the pages is how to be a scientist? An example on this page is water is a liquid. This book is great because it pops out science topics . It is easy for students to get involved . Teachers can even form lesson plans out of this book ! Super Science book could be used for the prediction and observation parts of the process skills.

My favorite page of this book is the page on mixtures and compounds of cooking. This page is great for students because they can ask questions about how different substances mix together. For example mixing water and salt together. When mixing the salt in the salt dissolves in the salt . It even examples definitions about mixtures. One example is the definition of mixture which is defined as the molecules are mixed up but separate like a box of sweets. Super Science even includes home experiments that teachers can assign their students to try at home. The first experiment listed is be a kitchen chemist. Go home and make toast and a boiled egg. See how the heart turns the soft bread into crisp toast and how the liquid egg white turns into a solid egg white. My favorite parts of this page are the instructions on how to bake . Step 1- Mix together butter and sugar. Step 2-Whisk the eggs and add. Step 3- Mix in flour and baking power. Step 4- Stir in a little milk. Step 5-Put mixture into a baking tin. This book also includes instructions such as do not be unsupervised in the kitchen without an adult figure an do not play with kitchen equipment. Super Science Book is great for prediction and observation. Students can guess and answer questions by opening up different flaps in the pages ! This book should be mostly used in elementary grade levels.

This book is full of beautifully updated classic fairy tales, from The Princess and the Pea to The Ugly Duckling, but there is more to it than that. This book encompasses dreams we know we cannot live, but the fact that they're here, in this book, is comforting.

This two book in one set has facts about guinea pigs and hamsters- how to care for them, different breeds, and general information. It’s a great companion to a class pet, because it is easy to read/ look at.
