Father and son by E. O. Plauen
Plauen was a German cartoonist whose anti-Nazi sentiments almost forced him out of work; he managed to survive by switching to drawing the nearly wordless adventures of a father and his imitative, clever, trouble-making son. They were very popular—even appropriated by the Nazis to advertise a charity drive—but I found them trite and a good example of how art is suppressed under totalitarianism even when the artist is formally allowed to keep making art.
