Even before Oedipus' birth, an oracle predicted that he would kill his father and marry his mother. Trying to avoid the prophecy, Oedipus’ parents had him sent away to die on a mountaintop. Even though many characters tried to prevent his fate, Oedipus' still lived to fulfill the prophecy's words.

A worthy retelling with great endpapers that merits a spot in any classroom library as background information, as well as inspiration for aspiring retellers of classical Greek mythology. I did find myself distracted by the digital coloration; it cheapened the otherwise fine drawings.
