Dialogue with Friends by John P. Powelson
In the summer of 1987, Jack Powelson traveled to 7 Quaker gatherings, to listen to Friends' thoughts when the major international economic issues of the day. Dialogue with Friends is his journal of this journey.
Social protesters may not have taken into account the complexity of economics, and this author offers explanations.
Friends make an impact on the world by agreeing on the same position – such as opposition to war – and by being a Society of Seekers, who listen to each other, learning to voice the individual and collective opinions of sincere, concerned people. But listening possesses greater weight. This book shows how to seek truth together in the Society of Friends.
