- Hannah Benner Roach was an editor, officer, director, and fellow of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. Her early and continued association with the Society led to extensive writing, teaching and lecturing on genealogical sources and methods, always emphasizing the principles of accurate documentation. Ms. Roach published extensively for the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, including many articles in the Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine. She was also a research associate for the William Penn Papers from 1969 through 1975. Forty-one volumes of the Hannah Benner Roach Collection exist at the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania—a testament to her dedicated work. Additionally, her unpublished writings also include Names from Philadelphia Newspapers to About 1800, compiled on more than 7800 cards and donated to the American Philosophical Society.
