3.75 stars. This was a short but sweet mail-order-bride novel. I very much enjoyed it. There was sweetness, spiciness, drama, and a very small amount of angst. The narration was great. Honestly, I could have gone for more. The story was complete, and there were no real plot holes that I recall, but it left me wanting. I suppose that's great on the writer's part as I will continue with the series.
This was my first book by Ava Ross and I really enjoyed it and the way she wrote the characters as well as her world building. The Christmas based scenes were all so cute and I enjoyed seeing how Trexon reacted to various earth customs/traditions/objects. I look forward to reading more from this series and by this author in the future.
This book includes a prequel to the series and a short story about Axil's best friend and Julia's best friend. Axil and Julia are to meet in a formal ceremony on board the spaceship but before the ceremony Julia and her friend get lost below deck and run into a giant mechanic in oily clothes. When he grabs her to steady her she panics and stabs him. He throws her over his shoulder and hauls her to his cabin. There are a series of miscommunications before they get their relationship on track. show more I particularly like the naanans that the Crackians have sprouting from their heads and how they add to the sexual experience. Fun read though short. The short story involving Gaje and Thea was not as good. show less
Evie and a friend dare each other to apply for the Crakarian brides program and finds herself matched with a high-level space commander. Hesitant about getting into another relationship after a bad breakup, she decides to take things one day at a time and give her best effort. Vork on the other hand has had his name submitted by his mother without his knowledge. He determines to spend as little time as it takes to court and get her with child before returning to space. Needless to say things show more don't go as planned. Vork also has an enemy that wants to use Evie in a revenge plot. Very interesting plot for this type of book. show less
