Short biography
Gaspara Stampa, one of the great women poets of the Italian Renaissance, was renowned for her beauty and intelligence. She published only three poems in her lifetime; the rest were published posthumously by her sister in a volume called Stampa's Rime, containing 311 poems. Harold Bloom counts her works among the most important of the Western canon.
