This is one of those books with a good premise, but the execution of the story wasn't great. Ysabel and Massimo fall in love instantly upon meeting, but she's in a mask, and he mistakes her jealous younger sister, Ynez, for her. He embarks on a relationship that only ends when he finds out she's having an affair. A marriage is arranged with Ysabel, but he doesn't realize that she was the one he really wanted as Ynez keeps interfering.
The writing wasn't terrific, however, with a lot of jumping around and many editing errors.… (more)

I enjoyed this story.

It started off well, interfering mother trying to marry off her son so he sends for a mail order bride. Ex love interest who wanted to involved romantically with him. Emotionally detached hero who thinks he is going to keep his heart away from this marriage.
I enjoyed the start but then I wasn't really happy with how it progressed.

Here are my issues that prevented it being a great story..... POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD......

I felt the scene was set for wanna be ex Jill to cause more trouble than she did. He was supposed to come across her naked, in a barn and propriety would pressure him to do the right thing but it is supposed to be a modern mail order bride story so really by modern standards that would hardly be much of an issue. This is before his marriage but after I expected there to be more from her.

The mother-in-law lies about 'Harry' aka Hilary to her son Devon in order to make him realize how he feels about her but it back fires and Devon really hurts Hilary, there is no real discussion between the couple (Devon and Hilary) about his actions and how much he did with the 'other woman', which I thought was quite important esp as he's been absent.

His actions spur her to hurt him in return which I thought was really cruel thing to do. His mother is in on this plot and although to an extent she owes Hilary for causing the mess in the first place I didn't feel she was really held accountable for her actions.

It was okay but I felt it could have been more.
