Murder story in Palm Springs

A female investigative journalist in Palm Springs look into the murder of a volunteer campaigner in a local election. The novel contains a bit of everything: sexual abuse, drug dealing, murder, flooding, homosexuality. It is an engaging and entertaining read which I would recommend to all lovers of strong female detectives (VI Warshawski, Kinsey Milhone etc..).

One thing that I find annoying about these type of books – and this is not uncommon – is the occasional street directions about routes that the main character takes. This is meaningless to anybody who doesn’t live in the area and, in my opinion, adds nothing to the story.
