Pole to Pole by BBC
Michael Palin travels from North Pole to South Pole via Russia and Africa, by ground whenever possible.
I had thought it wouldn't be as good as Around the World in 80 Days because he's not trying to beat a challenge. But traveling through the USSR and eastern Africa in 1991 is quite fascinating in a different sort of way: this time he's not racing against the clock - he's just trying to get through at all.

Not as much fun as I might have expected, but pleasant to watch and entertaining. I'm looking forward to watching Palin's other travel shows, although I wonder if they will work as well without the race-against-the-clock gimmick.
