Time Spike: The Mysterious Mesa by Garrett W. Vance
Good characters, and an excellent world-building opportunity in this Assitti Shards spinoff. Creative bad guys, really big lizards, 40 ft crocodiles, and a rattlesnake worshipping priest cult keep the plot, simple as it is moving nicely.

This is a slog to read. While I enjoy the setting, I struggled to stay in the narrative. Too many instances of cutesy ‘uptimer’ garbage and not enough movement on the narrative.

More of a juvenile than an adult novel.
