Say What You Mean and Get What You Want by George R. Walther

The author works through 50 examples of English language that he considers can be reworked to improve success. It seems to me (an Australian) that some of the language, and many of the examples, are more relevant to American culture.

If you learn best by example, then this is probably a good book for you. A bit long winded, but useful tips nonetheless. I'd recommend going straight to the Quick Reference Summary in the back of the book first.
