Wendy L. Watson

I didn't see until I had finished that it was adapted from a Time Out for Women talk. Though I'm not a fan of the former, I am a fan of Wendy Watson Nelson. It was good. I think if I hadn't been reading it in tandem with [b:Change Your Questions, Change Your Life|8730435|Change Your Questions, Change Your Life|Wendy Watson Nelson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1337062733s/8730435.jpg|9518283] I would have liked it more. But CYQCYL is so fabulous I couldn't help but compare it. I feel like there was more to be said in this booklet that had been edited (as it always is) for time's sake.… (more)

Sep 2018 review:
Just as brilliant as before. The book is visually and verbally thoughtful. A good workbook that I find to be almost, if not just as good, as a trip to a good therapist or a chat with a wise friend.

Life-altering. One I will definitely be rereading. She begins by addressing destructive questions that we ask ourselves and others and then moves on to how we can ask questions that build, not tear down.

Sort of a workbook- she has several month-long projects that I would love to go back and actually implement. I particularly love her enthusiasm for life. She knows that we're human and that's okay. Also, the dedication of the book! So sweet.

I've been concerned lately with improper intimacy. Not the physical kind, but emotional intimacy. It gets tricky as you get older, more of your friends are married/dating folks, etc. And I've really been trying to focus on having appropriate relationships with people in my various "friend-zones."

So, I was browsing the shelves at the library and came across this book. Since I was pretty sure that she wrote this when she was single(and, at the moment, these sorts of women are my role models), I was curious. So I took it home.

It's a lovely book. It focuses on all types of intimacy and answered a lot of my questions. But more than that, it reinstated some of my ideals that had been trampled on or disregarded by the people around me. And she knows her stuff. I particularly liked her section on change-- how Christ is the one person who can help us make lasting change, but He is also the one person who never changes.

*Again, not married, still single, so maybe I'll give it a reread when I know more about the topic? :)… (more)
