I was drawn to the book by the author's bio blurb. Glad I was.

I enjoyed this book and have looked and found there are other titles by her. I hope to get them and read them.

The team of Old-style cop Krug and new-style cop Kellog work well together solving this bizaar murder. Going back to the Santa Monica and Venice of the 70s is a trip. With all the twists and turns that suddenly appear, the reader does need to pay attention.

There is tension, distractions and clues that have to be sussed out along the way. Add to this the two opposite personalities of the main characters and you have a good mix.

The whole book felt a little familiar and all fell into place when I later discovered that this book was the basis for The Streets of San Francisco series from that era. Small world.

Enjoyable read.

I remember watching The Streets of San Francisco when I was younger so I was curious to see what the book was like. It was well written, but I had a hard time at first finding the book's rhythm. It jumped around a lot. There are many minor characters. They were developed nicely and you got a sense of each one, but it was a lot to keep up with. I didn't figure out the killer until the end and I don't think I would have figured it out from the clues given. All in all it was a pleasant short read. I received this book free from NetGalley for an honest review.… (more)
