Probably the best college-level textbook for Texas history out there up to 1900. After that, the text is too short and quick.
Interesting profile on different African Americans and their contributions to what has been labeled as the Harlem Renaissance. Don't know if I agree with all of those selected to be profiled, but it was interesting to read how all the different areas- literature, art, music, politics- fit into the overall design of the period.
