Hamfisted

The plot devices were more than a little inept here but I guess we forcr things to where they need to be in this series.

wow - what a book. Probably the best book I've read this year.
A dungeon run leads to a summoning stone and instead of a helpful beast a 12 year old boy is summoned. But the summoner don't want him and it is for the others to see the potential of the boy. Very good exploration of the possibilities that litRPG gives the author. Lots and lots of interesting characters that are not uniform but are clearly different from each other and have their own qualities.
Not too much statistics but a lot of nice skills and classes and good fights that doesn't end in the same kind of action description every time but are different and are solved in different ways.

Too bad - this book could not hold the quality of the first one. The characters were not very likeable anymore - some are becoming more caricatures you cannot love a nd cannnot be taken serious. Multiple shifts in point of view that brought nothing I really cared for. The MC takes everything in wihtout protest - and the question is "why?".
While the first book had a clear path through the book this one has no direction at all. Worst in my opinion is a lot of violation of the "show don't tell" rule - this book talks a lot about stuff like history of a land you don't care about.
Too bad - I had high hopes on this series and can only hope the next one will get back to the qualities of the first one.
