People/Characters Edith Hope

(Fictitious character) In Susan Elia MacNeal's Maggie Hope series, Edith Hope grew up in London with her brother Edmund, but fled to the United States and taught chemistry at Wellesley college. She has a "Boston Marriage" with Olive Collins, an economics professor. She took in Maggie as an infant, telling her that her father and his wife, Clara, were killed in an automobile accident. She still has a British accent.
