themulhern: This one is probably a no-hoper. However, there is a copy of Helen Pluckrose's "Counterweight Handbook" available from a library in MA now.

Explanations
themulhern: Requested for purchase the third time Feb 2025. Still unavailable in MA April 2025. Still unavailable in MA December 2025...but some libraries have purchased Ben Appel's "Cis White Gay", so I feel like we're making progress on the dissident gay front.

Explanations
themulhern: Note that the publisher is obscure and it came out a while ago, so in the end I decided not to request it. It _should_ have been purchased when DeSantis was a possible future president, but now it is a little beside the point.

themulhern: Niche and probably boring. Andrew Doyle's serious work is better and is now available in MA public libraries, due to my efforts. So, we can give this one a pass.

Explanations
themulhern: After death of Charlie Kirk, some libraries responded by purchasing copies of his most recent work, in response to popular demand, some did not. https://news.fairforall.org/p/will-public-libraries-feature-charlie . This book was not absent from MA libraries, in fact MA libraries seem to have responded better than PA libraries to the increased demand. The assassination is a special circumstance, and the book was being very obviously suppressed in PA and NOBLE. (Since I published this article (https://news.fairforall.org/p/will-public-libraries-feature-charlie) the libraries improved a bit.)

Explanations
themulhern: Book of the Week is "The War on Science: Thirty-Nine Renowned Scientists and Scholars Speak Out About Current Threats to Free Speech, Open Inquiry, and the Scientific Process" edited by Lawrence Krauss. It's in a very weird state, Commonwealth Catalog lists it as belonging to Minuteman consortium, but Minuteman consortium card catalog doesn't list it. Fishy. It's that most unusual thing, a book about how the ideology of the left is undermining the practice of science. Narrator: it sure is! Here's the link to the publisher site: https://posthillpress.com/.../the-war-on-science-thirty... Request it!

Explanations
themulhern: This was purchased and just two years later it disappeared from the purchasing library's collection. I nominated "The Woketopus" to replace it and the library purchased that book as a substitute.
