- A series of graded reader books using vocabulary from the Dale list, almost all written by O. B. Gregory. The first six books are about commodities, while the second six (pub. 1962) deal with men at work. And yes, men, in what were at the time very gendered occupations. Books 25-48 are about individual historical figures, with a pronounced British, male, imperial and very white bias. Books 74-91 (and supposedly 73-96) are about biblical topics. // Some at least of the books were translated into other languages. For example, Cowboys ("Read About It" Series, book 10) was translated into Welsh as Cowbois (Cyfres "Aros pryd", llyfr 7), and Postmen ("Read About It" Series, book 12) became Postmyn (Cyfres "Aros pryd", llyfr 9).
