This is one of my favourite bits of street art in Montreal. I don't know the title of the piece but I call it Mother and Child. It sits outside an art gallery on Sherbrooke St West and the artist is Lea Vivot, whose work is iconic. One of the features of her work is that before it is finished, she often invites the public to write a comment into the cement of the bench. This one has the writing, too, but I didn't photograph much of it. There is a similar piece to this one, in front of Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children that she did many years ago (maybe 30 years or so). It was her thank you to the hospital for taking care of her son when he was very ill. I think he died but she was always grateful for the care they received. I visited her studio once when she was living in Kleinberg. Her work is all over the world.
