- About My Library
The books owned by Charles Stagg of Williamsburg, Virginia are documented in the probate inventory of his estate, taken 14 May 1736 and returned 17 May 1736. Two of the four titles are valued at £1/13/6 out of a total estate valued at £211/13/2; the other two titles are in a section of the inventory headed "Not appraised."
Stagg, in partnership with his wife Mary and William Levingston, established the first theater in Williamsburg in 1716; he was also known as a actor, violinist, and dancing teacher (indeed, two of the titles in his library are on dance).
