Dan Gray was born in Wasco, California and lived in that general area for his first twelve years. From there, his family left suburbia and moved onto a forty acre farm in southern Oregon. The experiences of that environment helped to shape who he would become as a writer. Enlisting in the Army prior to the end of the Vietnam war opened the world to him. After a six month stint on the east coast, he spent two years in Germany. After that, numerous assignments throughout the U.S., and then ending his seven years enlistment in California. From there, he returned to southern Oregon where he would meet and marry the love of his life.

His first writing efforts were short stories. After the usual trail of rejections, he finally published his first short story, entitled, Legacy. Numerous other stories followed. Finally, taking the plunge, he wrote his first novel, Persephone, Descending. Successful signings and sales at Barnes and Noble, encouraged him to pursue this craft.

A second artistic endeavor, woodworking, has presented him with several awards.

He, his wife, and two dogs, now live in southern Washington state. His newest novel, Beast, is now available. Currently he is working on another novel, and putting together a collection of short stories.
