About My Library: I have my most of my library divided on two floor-to-ceiling bookshelves: one for fiction and one for non-fiction. I read almost exclusively from the fiction side, despite my good intentions to expand my tastes. Unfortunately, I tend to read just to visit old friends or to make new ones, and rarely does non-fiction allow for friendship. (Although there are a few notable exceptions - George Gissing's By the Ionian Sea, and all of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's books on knitting, for example.) My best fictional friends are Lord Peter Wimsey, Anne Shirley, Jane Eyre, Lucy Pevensie, and the March girls, and I have a shy and admiring acquaintance with Frodo Baggins and Sherlock Holmes. Sometimes the authors feel more like my friends than the characters do, and although we've never spoken in person, I count Patricia MacLachlan and Shannon Hale among the people whose company I enjoy most.
About Me: I am a committed Christian, wife, and teacher. There are very few things I don't like (coconut and goat cheese being the only things that come to mind), so I enjoy myself hugely on a daily basis.
