About My Library

The Fort Custer Historical Society Library and Archives, a closed stacks library, supports research into the history of Camp Custer and Fort Custer and the men and women who trained, served, and worked there. The collection focuses on Camp and Fort Custer military history, World War I, World War II, the National Guard, German Prisoners of War in Michiga, and New Deal Programs at Camp Custer, with additional materials related to veterans’ experiences, training programs, and daily life at Fort Custer.

The library and archives include published books, unit histories, magazines, photographs, scrapbooks, and original archival materials. These resources are used to support historical research, Fort Custer museum exhibits, publications, and educational programs.

The Fort Custer Historical Society is committed to preserving and sharing the history of the post and ensuring long term access to its historical collections for researchers, veterans, descendants, and the public.

Visits to the Fort Custer Historical Society Museum, Library, and Archives are available by appointment only. Fort Custer is an active military training installation, and a valid photo ID is required for entry. Acceptable identification includes a military ID or a valid driver’s license.
