- About My Library
- Gallery 400’s Library collections are available to artists, students, educators, and members of the community interested in investigating diverse issues in contemporary art and culture. The Library works to foster a deeper understanding of contemporary art, architecture, and design, and to broaden access and exposure to art.
Our Library maintains a comprehensive archive of Gallery 400 exhibition catalogues, in addition to exhibition catalogues from other local, national, and international galleries and museums. The Library also includes artist publications, art history texts, and audiovisual media. Our collection of journals and periodicals features more than 30 titles spanning more than 30 years, in addition to current issues of leading art and museum publications. For those pursuing in-depth research, Gallery 400's complete institutional archives are housed on-site and are accessible to researchers upon request.
The Gallery 400 Library is open to visitors by appointment during our regular hours:
Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm
Saturday 12pm-6pm

- Founded in 1983, Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois at Chicago is one of the nation’s most vibrant university galleries, showcasing work at the leading edge of contemporary art, architecture, and design.
Gallery 400 has presented more than 1,000 artists in its exhibitions and programs since its founding. In so doing, we strive to make complex works and ideas accessible to a broad spectrum of the public, advance and cultivate a variety of cultural and intellectual perspectives, and foster an interdisciplinary understanding of the visual arts. - Location
