Two books owned by Hannah Shields of York County, Virginia are documented in the probate inventory of her estate, taken 17 December 1739 and returned 17 March 1740: "London Dispensatory," valued at 2 shillings, and "1 large prayer book" valued at 5 shillings, for a total of 7 shillings in books out of an estate valued at £56/14/4.
