About My Library: A random selection of recent reading, tending towards the elegiac and plain maudlin. This goes for some of the rather reactionary 'cultural pessimist' stuff I seem to have taken to reading since hitting the buffers at 40. Who would have thought twenty years ago I would have been reading Eliot's essays, the Spectator or the New Criterion and nodding sadly in assent?
