I love collecting books...probably more than I love reading them. There is something comforting about knowing that I am surrounded by life, culture, and magic.

Because I majored in literature and writing throughout undergrad and grad school, a lot of my books fall into the classic novels, literary criticism, and writing categories. I also enjoy some romance, humor, and magical realism. Actually, I have a little bit of everything, but my favorites are the children's books I collect: Charlotte's Web in multiple languages and formats, anything Disney, and the quirky old books I find in antique stores. Children's books from the 40s through the 70s seem to attract me most.

It has been difficult to read for fun over the past several years. Since I read for work every day, I have found that teacher fatigue and "occupational hazards" keep me from doing what I love most...enjoying a good book for the first time. For now, I will bask in the warmth of their presence and hope to escape through their pages again some day.
