This story is a bit like a fable in that there is a lesson to be learned at the end. It takes place in anceint China and involves a dispute between two villagers that must be solved by a wise king. It is illistrated with really vibrant but imple drawings. (1), A book of repetition that has a poem about an individual who expresses themselves in their own way that makes them special. Each time the poem is repeated it is with a new child who lives a different life and has different interests. Good for predictions (1), Beegu is about an alien who gets stranded on Earth. It is a very sad story that has a poingnant ending about friendship (1), Silly Billy is about a boy who worries about everything too much. It is a micro-study of Guatalamen culture as shown by the exceprt at the end and is meant to tell a story wtih a cultural perpective. (1), The book starts with Bud establishing himself as an alpha (1), but he describe how close he is with Gabby. When Gabby gets sick he begins to realize how much he misses her. (1), This is a story from the world of the Jungle Book. It has many of the same characters from the movie. It tells the story of a time when Mowgli and Kaa had to work together even though they are usually enemies. (1), This is a sing-along book. It develops a pattern each page of animals making noises and would encourage children to participate and sing along. (1), This book is a condensed version of the movie Moana. (1), This book is a conversation between a Mom and her son. It asks the question how far they love one another and the answers are beautiful drawings of real places depicting what people there look like. There is a lot of vivid imagery in the writing as well. (1), This book is about a young boy who is mad at his mother. He describes why he is mad and all of his reasons are things that she does in the process of being his mother and raising him. He realizes that his anger is misplaced (1), and decides to stay. (1), A counting down book with a different rhyme for each sleepy bug. A nice bedtime story. Good for rhyming sounds and uses real insect names. (1), This is a rhyming book about a group of animals racing through the jungle. This book could be used to teach rhyming within poetry or about having endings that suprise the reader by going against expectations. (1), This book is made with the perspective of a blind person in mind. It uses braille and raised pictures as story telling tools for the sighted reader. Thought provoking and good for discussion. (1), A wordless book that tells a story of a young girl who finds a magical book that is a portal to another place on earth. (1), A wordless book about a boy on a trip to the Empire state building. He befriends a cloud adept at making shapes who takes him on an adventure to sector 7 where clouds are made and work. (1), This is a re-imagining of the Goldilocks story. It has engaging pictures that look CGI and has some interesting concepts like hybrid animals to discuss with students. (1), A fox kidnaps a chicken from a farm (1), and the other farm animals run after them to try and save the chicken. It has a surprising ending and uses its long picture format in a way that makes it seem like time passes from one side of the picture to the other (1), A beautiful wordless story about the friendship between a lonely boy and a brave little bird. Lots of potential for discussion of weighty themes and real life connections. (1), A book with lovely paintings about naturally occurring curiosities in the world. Great for questioning and predicting. (1), An informational book that analyzes the nature of things by looking at them at many different levels. A good book for demonstrating thorough study or focus on a topic. (1), A very simple book used to teach emergent readers sight words. Vibrant pictures are paired with few words to make it a quick read. (1), This book describes characteristics of different kids of horses and talks about their behavior. It would be valuable for a student reporting on horses or learning about what goes into an informational text. (1), A very silly book that tells altered fables. They are completely made up and don't make much sense in many cases. This book could be used to teach about writing with humor or using one's own voice in writing to sound a certain way. (1)
